I have heard about Bukit Malawati for quite some time, but unfortunately I have no time to drop by during my last Kuala Selangor Fireflies trip. Any way, I was there last week while I’m on the way back from Sekinchan.

Bukit Malawati has a long history. It was first build by the early Selangor Sultan to defense against the Dutch from the river mouth. Later, the Dutch built an European-style castle and named it as Fort Atlingsburg. If you are not historical passionate, there is another attraction for you there – silver-leafed monkey.

Since it was a weekend, the tram service is available. I have bought the ticket for RM2 which save me some energy to walk uphill. But, the smoke from the tram’s engine spoil my plan to get some fresh air on the way up. You will also find the cultural area and museum on the way.

When we reach the top, yes, the monkeys are all over the place. On and off, you can also hear screaming when the monkey snatch the long bean from the visitors. They just can’t wait for you to feed them. Besides that, they are nice and cute. The adult monkey is in grey color while the baby is in golden brown.

How to get to Bukit Malawati?
If you are coming from NKVE, exit at Sungai Buloh and follow the road sign to Kuala Selangor. Bukit Malawati is located at the center of the town where you can see there is a telecommunication tower on the hill. Go stright on at the traffic light to Pasir Penambang and the parking area is on your left right after the traffic light.

If you have no plan for the night, consider to visit the fireflies nature park at Kampung Kuantan.
