Travel in Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia

Lata Kinjang, one of tallest waterfall in Malaysia was located at Tapah, Perak. You might not hear of it before but I’m pretty sure you have seen it when you pass by Tapah along the North-South Highway. Does it ring a bell now? Yes, the ‘white cloth’ in the middle of the forest in Tapah. It is actually part of the waterfall which you are able to see along the highway. What is so special about this waterfall? There is nothing much besides its height and also being the landmark of along the highway at Tapah.

It was not on our itineraries when we are on the way to Gua Tempurung two months ago. However, we decided to give it a shot that time after we have seen the waterfall’s sign several time on the way to Cameron Highlands.

Lata Kinjang is not hard to find, and it is connected by a quite good condition road from the Tapah town compared with other waterfall’s bumpy road. If not mistaken, it’s only 8km from the town. But the 8km seems to be a little bit more than the actual figure. It can easily tell when you reach Lata Kinjang, when there is a large parking space besides the souvenir shops. There is no car beyond this point although there is still some ‘illegal’ cars manage to pass through and blocking the entrance to the waterfall.

We visit Lata Kinjang on a Friday, and it was not a school holiday too. Therefore, we do not expect a lot of tourist visitors on that day. We are right about the number of tourist but there are visitors any way. Young local who just came back from school were enjoying their beginning of short weekend break there. They are also offering us spectacular excitement with their stunt.

Warning!! Don’t ever try to climb up the slippery rock like what the locals did. They have been undergone special training for that action.

How to get to Lata Kinjang?
Take the Tapah Exit of North-South Expressway. Turn right to Tapah town at the first traffic light. The left way will leads you to Cameron Highlands. Before you come to Tapah town, there is a second traffic light and take another right turn. At this point, you are able to find Lata Kinjang road sign all the way until you reach the waterfall.

Is it worth to visit Lata Kinjang?
I will say do not put too much expectation if you are looking for a nice and comfortable place to swim. However, if you treat it as a relaxing picnic trip, yes, you can count on it. The view is nice and it is windy as well to be shaded in the tropical tree forest.
